Smartsupp live chat and Flows (formerly chatbots) work with most platforms and technologies used to build websites today. However, some platforms don't allow custom JavaScript to be inserted into the page — and because the Smartsupp chat widget runs as a small JavaScript snippet, it can't be installed on those platforms.
This guide is divided into the following sections:
Platforms that don't support Smartsupp
Smartsupp can't be installed on the platforms below — they either block custom JavaScript entirely or strip third-party scripts on publish:
AMP — Accelerated Mobile Pages only allows a curated set of AMP-specific components, not arbitrary JavaScript like the Smartsupp widget.
Dribbble — a designer portfolio and community site that doesn't allow custom code on member profiles or shots.
Google Sites — Google blocks custom JavaScript on Google Sites for security reasons. See Google Sites for alternatives.
InVision — a design prototyping tool, not a public website host, so there's no place to add custom scripts.
SimpleSite — a beginner website builder that doesn't expose head/body code or custom HTML fields on its plans.
SmugMug — a photo-hosting and portfolio platform with restricted custom code support.
Note: Platform features change over time. If a platform on this list adds support for custom JavaScript or a Smartsupp app/integration, the chat will work there too — check the platform's current documentation if you're unsure.
What to do instead
If your current platform is on the list above, the simplest path is to switch to (or build a separate landing page on) a platform that does support custom JavaScript. Here are a few popular options that work seamlessly with Smartsupp:
WordPress — by far the most flexible option, with a one-click Smartsupp plugin.
Shopify — a leading e-commerce platform with simple Smartsupp installation.
Webnode — a website builder with built-in Smartsupp integration.
Weebly — a beginner-friendly website builder where you can paste the Smartsupp code.
WiX — a popular website builder that supports custom code on paid plans.
