Mira AI Welcome Message greets your website visitors automatically — either with an AI-generated message that adapts to your brand, or with a custom greeting you write yourself. It's part of Mira AI and helps you break the ice with every new visitor.
We've broken the guide into the following sections:
Before you start
A few things worth knowing before you turn on the Welcome Message.
Where it lives: the Welcome Message is configured directly inside the AI assistant: Mira AI → your assistant → Settings → Welcome message (not the main dashboard Settings).
Two flavors: let the AI generate the greeting from your Knowledge base & Behavior settings, or write your own custom message (up to 500 characters).
Independent greeting: for a greeting that works independently of Mira AI, use Automatic messages (in the Automation section).
Multilingual: set a default language and let Smartsupp auto-translate the greeting based on the visitor's language.
Tip: Want to learn about classic automatic messages? See Automatic messages — they work alongside the Mira AI Welcome Message.
⚠️ Heads up: Active Automatic messages can interfere with the AI assistant and its welcome message. For smooth operation we recommend turning them off — the builder shows a warning with a Manage link when this is the case.
Set up the Welcome Message
Three short steps from off to live.
Step 1 — Enable the Welcome Message
Open the Mira AI section and click the AI assistant you want to edit:
Then in its menu, go to Mira AI → your assistant → Settings → Welcome message (not the main dashboard Settings). Turn the toggle on and choose the message type:
AI welcome message — generated by the AI and adapted to your tone of voice, using your Knowledge base and Behavior settings. Each greeting may vary slightly.
Custom welcome message — write your own greeting in the text area below (up to 500 characters).
Step 2 — Language settings
Pick a default language for the greeting. Optionally enable Translate welcome message, and Smartsupp will automatically adapt the greeting to each visitor's language.
Step 3 — Advanced settings & publish
The welcome message appears once the visitor has spent a short while on your site (10 seconds by default). Click Advanced settings to open the assistant's Triggers settings, where you can adjust the delay and fine-tune when, where, and to whom the message appears.
Don't forget: after any change, click Publish changes at the top — the Welcome Message goes live only after the assistant is published.
