How do automatic messages work?
Automatic messages together with Chatbots allow you to talk to each visitor on your website as if you were right there next to them.
An automatic message is sent to your website’s visitors when specific conditions are met. For example, you can send an automatic message to a visitor that views a specific item in your e-shop for longer than three minutes. The message could be something along the lines of “Hi there, I see you’ve been checking out our brand-new Canon camera. Can I help you with any questions?” To the visitor, it appears as if a live agent is proactively messaging them.
Where to find automatic messages?
If you want to add or activate an automatic message, just click on the Robot icon (1) in your Dashboard and choose Auto messages (2). To customize messages for a specific language, navigate to Automation → Automatic messages in your Dashboard.
Preset automatic messages
In Smartsupp, there are six preset automatic messages that cover the majority of the most common situations. You can find them after clicking on the button +Add new in the upper right corner and scrolling down to the Automatic messages section. These preset messages work for specific scenarios and have conditions that work best for these given situations, so if you don't have time to create your own, just use these messages exactly as they are.

How to create your own automatic message?
Of course, you are not limited by our preset messages — you can create your own after clicking on +New bot and choosing the Automatic message. You can also create messages in your preferred language by entering the message text manually and setting the conditions for when it should be sent.
However, we’ve collected a few tips on how to engage your visitors via automatic messages.
How Can I Customize Automatic Messages in Smartsupp for a Specific Language?
Smartsupp allows you to customize automatic messages to suit your preferred language. This feature is particularly useful for tailoring messages to your audience, ensuring a more personalized and localized customer experience.
Overview of Language Customization
By default, Smartsupp uses English for its system messages. However, you can disable these default messages and create new ones in your preferred language. This process involves manually creating and translating the message texts to ensure they meet your specific needs.
Step-by-Step Guide to Customizing Automatic Messages
Access the Automation Settings:
Navigate to your Smartsupp Dashboard.
Go to Automation → Automatic messages.
Disable Default Messages:
Locate the existing English messages.
Open each message and toggle it off (use the switch provided). This ensures that the default English messages are no longer active.
Create New Messages in Your Desired Language:
Click on the Add new button to create a new message.
Enter the message text in your preferred language.
Set the conditions and timing for when the message should be sent.
Save and Test:
Save your new messages.
Test them to ensure they are displayed correctly and meet your expectations.
Tips for Manual Translation and Customization
Translation: Since Smartsupp does not provide automatic translation, you will need to translate the message texts manually. Consider using professional translation services or tools to ensure accuracy.
Cultural Relevance: Tailor the tone and content of your messages to align with the cultural expectations of your audience.
Consistency: Ensure that all messages are consistent in style and tone to maintain a professional appearance. One effective strategy is to customize messages in the language of your audience, ensuring a more personalized and culturally relevant experience.
