Smartsupp doesn't have a native widget for mobile apps, but you can still let your app users reach you in chat by linking them to your Chat page. This guide explains how it works, the two ways to open the chat, and the advanced Mobile SDK option.
🟡 Good to know: The chat box itself won't be embedded inside your app. You add a link to your Chat page, and the chat opens in a browser when the user taps it.

How it works
You can add the chat box to your mobile app using your Chat page link. To find it, go to Settings > Channels > Chat page.
Bind this URL to a clickable element in your app — most commonly a button. When a user taps it, the chat page opens so they can start a conversation with you.
💡 Tip: Ask your mobile app developer to implement the link. Share this article with them so they can choose the option that fits your app best.
Two ways to open the chat
There are two ways to implement what happens when a user taps the chat element. Discuss both with your developer and pick the one that suits your app:
Option | What the user experiences |
Default browser | The chat page opens in the user's default browser. The user leaves your app but can keep using both the app and the chat. |
In-app browser | The chat page opens inside your app. The user stays in your app but can only chat until they close the chat window. |
Advanced: Mobile SDK
If you want a deeper, native integration instead of a simple link, Smartsupp offers a Mobile SDK. You can find the developer documentation here.
🟡 Note: The Mobile SDK is available in the ULTIMATE package (Legacy: Ultimate). If you're interested, contact our Sales team here.
